Ivation DH70PW Dehumidifier Review

High Function For a Large Space and a Small Price

I have to say I was blown away by this dehumidifier – well, as blown away as a person can be by one. I just couldn’t get over what you get for this price. I was tempted to give this one the title of “Best Deal” or something similar, but I quickly realized that doing so would take away from the true focal point of this machine – its ability to effectively dehumidify your entire home (or possibly even your workspace).

Capacity

Looking for a dehumidifier that can handle your large rec room or your mid-sized warehouse? How about one that can service your entire house? So long as you keep your interior doors open, this dehumidifier can do just that. Equipped to remove 70 pints of moisture from the air each day, this strong dehumidifier won’t wake you up in the middle of the night with a beeping alarm telling you it’s time to carry the bucket to the bathtub. That is, if you hook it directly into your plumbing system.

You can connect a special hose and run it to any sump pump, basement drain, shower drain, or laundry tub. This means you will never have to worry about emptying the water bucket. As someone with a bad back and a propensity for clumsiness, I can greatly appreciate this option. The tank has a capacity of 2.25 Gallon, which is the equivalent of almost 18 pints, so unless you sleep short nights the speed at which the Ivation DH70PW pulls water out of the air basically means that you should always use the continuous drain option to take full advantage of this machine.

Built with Large Spaces in Mind

There really are no doubts as to why this dehumidifier was chosen as our Best Whole House option. Not only can it hold a large amount of water, it also has the strength to pull that moisture from the air across a large expanse of space. You see, it is important that your dehumidifier has a high capacity if you want it to service a large space, but what many people do not know is that the motor also plays a huge role in its ability to function like this.

The market is full of high-capacity dehumidifiers which are not strong enough to satisfactorily service a large space. Simply put, they aren’t able to run the fan strong enough to pull air in from across the house. In essence, they just continually remove moisture from the same air in a small radius.

The Ivation DH70PW, on the other hand, is perfectly capable of servicing a large space. Its strong motor and fan will ensure that your entire space – up to 4500 square feet – is at just the right level of humidity. If you ever need to use it in a slightly smaller space, you can turn the fan down with the touch of a button so that it won’t work as hard to pull air from far away.

Double Duty Air Cleaner

Though it isn’t quite up to par with a typical air purifier, this dehumidifier features a built-in filtration system designed to remove large particles from the air. You can remove it quickly and easily by sliding it out of the back of the unit. Don’t worry about being a part of this world’s waste problem – you can clean this filter with a quick rinse under the tap or hose, then slap it back in for future use.

Extra Features

If I’m honest, I think that this would be a fine dehumidifier with only those qualities and features listed above. But Ivation wanted to outdo themselves by offering the best possible dehumidifier they could. In addition to everything listed above, this unit also features an easy to read, button-based control panel with a digital LED display. It also features caster wheels so that you can move it easily from one place to another.

It also features a programmable timer and a programmable humidistat. Also, a filter alert sound will go off when the filter needs to be cleaned. I’m still not finished, though – it also features an automatic defrost system which will switch gears from dehumidifying to defrosting whenever necessary to prevent the coils from freezing. It will even save your settings if you unplug it or experience a power failure, so that you never skip a beat.

With all these bonuses, I don’t understand why Ivation didn’t include a hose with the DH70PW. As explained above, the hose is needed to take full advantage of its main strength, so for that reason alone they should have included it. Luckily though, as you can see here on Amazon, the price is more than good enough to allow for an extra 10 dollars for a hose.
